Many of our friends have shared their frustrations of being caught by the Booze Bus checks and slapped with hefty fines. Although I've been tested, I've been fortunate that my BAC levels were always never high.
One day, it dawned on me that I could actually help my friends and others who are not aware of their BAC levels after dinner parties or a few 6-packs. More importantly, it will prevent the possible devastation of someone’s life (see True Story). Nobody knows how much alcohol will push one's limit above 0.05% BAC. It really depends on several factors like body weight and blood-alcohol dilution. But why wait for the Booze Bus test to affirm that you have exceeded your limit?
Thus, the idea of “BoozeBuddy” was born. I searched for something affordable and portable so that everyone can carry one with them to check their BAC levels at any convenient time. A gentle reminder that the drinks were too much and it's better to sober up a little before driving. Most commercial BAC Testers are expensive, and this doesn’t encourage greater use. We want to keep our BoozeBuddy units affordable and the basic unit is priced at approximately 2 packs of cigarettes.
I hope the unit will turn out to be a true buddy that will help keep you in check with no regrets. Even the designated driver can have a few drinks and let BoozeBuddy remind him/her to keep the limit.
